Artwork by me. This tattoo means so much to me. I wanted to tattoo it myself (I’m also a tattoo artist) but the placement was important. My father passed away on January 16th. He was my best friend in the whole world, and it shook me to my core to lose him. I got this tattoo February 16th, and every single thing about this tattoo has a memory of my dad attached to it.
The line “more than a princess” is from a painting my dad and I found in a shop in Brooklyn a few years ago, the last time he was healthy enough to walk around. It reminded me of a bedtime story he used to tell me about the king and his three princesses (me and my sisters).
“Are you a princess?” I said and she said “I’m much more than a princess. But you don’t have a name for it here on earth.”
